The Purpose

Well, as I've pondered and used facebook some over the past fews months and I've determined it is "fun" to see what my friends and family are doing along the way. I post things occasionally and have people comment on my posts. It still seems awkward and I wonder if people really want to know what I'm doing or really care for that matter, but..............

I guess I'll 'play along' for the time being and just keep studying this giant on the internet called facebook and see where it takes me.

I know all my past experiences can be used somehow, in some way in my life as I move forward.

I love being creative and with facebook I'm learning of endless ways to do just that. Figuring out a passion or 2 or more that I have hidden inside of me and ways to create an income with those.

How exciting to think of all the possibilities. using something you are passionate about to make money. Wouldn't that just seem like you weren't even working at all? hmmmmmm

The seminar day I also learned there were alot of websites and 'tools' out there to make url's shorter, keep records for you on how many visitors you have and things like that. useful thins for business owners.

Twitter

Ok, let's talk twitter. Everyone said, "get a twitter account also", so I signed up for Twitter. I'm still learning about Twitter and as i learn I will post here on my blog the "steps to learning Twitter" from my eyes.

So far I have a few people following me on Twitter, but not sure what they are following.

Brad Hanks Seminar

In August we had a seminar with Brad Hanks from Denver, CO. he came and taught us first about all the statistics on facebook and how to open an account (which I already had) and how people are using fb to advertise their businesses. (that got my wheels turning) I perked up to listen some more.

This was a hands on workshop and everyone had a laptop in front of them. So consequently, I followed along on my laptop and didn't take very good notes. argghhh. A lesson learned again.

this training led me to create a business page called Beauty Mark. That was a great accomplishment and started the brainstorming in my mind.

I put a few pictures on my page and have made some comments. I invited friends to 'like' my page and it started to grow with friends. Today their are 75 friends that like Beauty Mark!! How cool is that??

Now what?? I have the page, I post on the page......................now what??

creating events

I've learned to creat events on fb. That way I can put events for my business meetings and 'fun' parties I'm having on fb and send them to everyone I want to invite.

What a great concept!!

Ideas for events: Birthday parties, Business meetings, Open houses, baby showers, Christmas parties, any special event that is taking place really.

It's a great reminder, for those that need to be reminded, of the events or things you want to go to. If you are on facebook, it lists them right there. all the events you are planning to attend, sooooo if you are like me, you won't forget.................did I just say that :)

having a birthday now, with facebook, is like a real celebration!! So fun to get all the posts from people.

learning more about fb functions

I soon learned how to upload a photo on fb profile and to change my profile when I want. That's not all ~ (how to add friends, respond to posts with comments or 'like', birthday lists posted, so you can send them a personal note, updating my own status, requesting friends)

It's really like learning any computer program or new phone apps really. You just learn a little every day and it gets easier.

As fb expands and grows though, you can continue to learn, especially in the world of business and how it can help you build or expand your present business, no matter what it is.

Ok, so I now have a fb account and at the beginning it was so fun as my "friends" grew so quickly. I was able to see what others were doing each day and it was a great way to connect with others that I normally don't see every day! Love it!!

then, it seemed like everyone was playing games ~ cooking games, war games, even farming/ranching games and wanting me to play too.

I wasn't really interested in any of this at the time as I didn't want to spend my time doing that as I was in the process of building a successful business.

Sifting through all of those games etc. became more of a chore and I started being on fb less and less, not really knowing how to block all of this or really what it was all about.

Biggest question?? What is the purpose of all of this??
